For years I played around with different lip colors from reds to pinks to berries, trying to discern what shades worked for me. I never felt I had found anything that suited me perfectly until the advent of the rose-brown lip trend a few years back. I tried out a 90s inspired shade and was instantly hooked! Since that day, deep neutral lip shades have become my signature beauty look, and I’ve enjoyed curating a collection of favorites. From mattes to creams and opaque formulas to sheer, today I’m sharing my favorite rose-brown lipsticks. Bonus: they’re all cruelty free, and two are 100% vegan!
Free up some space in your beauty stash– today we’re talking lipstick!
The Lightweight Matte
This vegan and cruelty free lipstick is my new favorite. The first time I swiped it on, I looked at my sister and said “I’ve found the one!” It’s true love friends! The Charlotte Tilbury line can’t be beat in terms of gorgeous presentation, and the formula of these matte lipsticks is stellar. It’s lightweight, non-drying, and can be worn more sheer or at full opacity for maximum impact. Bond Girl is one of Charlotte’s best selling shades, and with good reason. The color is that perfect blend of neutral and elevated, and it’s become my go-to for when I want to feel pulled together without too much effort.
The Go-To Pencil
This beautiful lip pencil is one I wear at least once a week, and I always get asked about it. Bite Beauty truly excels at lip products, and I love the convenience of a lipstick in pencil form. Glacé in particular is a beautiful deep rose with a hint of mauve. It has a satin finish, and is definitely opaque. The Bite Matte Crème Lip Crayons are long wearing, and I find that my lipstick still looks good after an afternoon of teaching and drinking coffee. Glacé is a staple in my makeup collection.
The Easy Everyday
Tenderness is a little paler than my usual lip color choices, but I love it for a quick makeup look! This vegan and cruelty free lipstick has a creamy texture, glossy finish, and smells like coconut. Tenderness is a rose with a bit more peach than the other shades I’m sharing today. I love it both on its own as well as over the top of darker lip colors to subdue them a bit. At $10, these lip colors are an affordable choice while still being kind, clean, and full of color options!
The Deepest & Darkest
The darkest shade in my rosey-brown lip color stash is this little multistick by Bite Beauty. These products are meant to be worn as lip colors, eye shadows, and blushes all in one, but I find myself primarily wearing Biscotti as a lip shade these days. The texture of this product is a bit on the dry side, but it has wonderful staying power, and applies particularly well with a lip brush for more precision. Biscotti is a beautiful deep rose-mauve, and it definitely adds a more dramatic statement to any makeup look.
