As summer slowly draws to a close, I’m both contemplating my autumn wardrobe, and thinking about what I’ve been wearing this summer. I loved my summer capsule, and how it made me more creative with the pieces I already owned. I also learned some things about my style and what works best for my life through this wardrobe. It was my first warm weather capsule, and while there is always room for improvement, I think it was successful!
What I Added:
I’m fine with making additions to a capsule if I’ve thought about them carefully. This summer I made three additions to my capsule. First I picked up a lightweight secondhand Victoriana cotton blouse that turned out to be one of my favorite pieces in my capsule. I loved how trendy and comfortable it was, and the bit of femininity it lent to my outfits. I also added a bathing suit and a pair of shorts for a summer camping trip, both made by me. These three pieces definitely made my wardrobe more well rounded
What I Learned:
I need a little more variety! Toward the end of the season, I did find myself a little board with my outfits, and I think that adding a few more pieces to future capsules will help them stretch farther.
I love dresses! I wore my dresses so much this summer, and I definitely want to include more in future capsules. My silk maxi dress and two striped dresses were some of my favorite things to wear over the past season.
I do like color! I’m usually all about the neutrals. My wardrobe wasn’t 100% neutral, but I did find myself craving a bit more color in my life. I’m keeping this in mind for my fall capsule.
Print is a good thing. Sometimes a great printed piece makes an outfit way more interesting. Stripes and florals were favorites this season.
A denim jacket may just be the most versatile thing ever. Seriously, I can’t count the number of times I wore that thing over these past few months! I’m definitely carrying it over into fall!
My Most Worn Pieces:
Silk maxi dress, short sleeved striped dress, white cotton blouse, denim jacket, black rayon trousers, jeans.
My Least Worn Pieces:
Coral sundress, white eyelet skirt, white tee shirt, blush lace dress.
