I love old classic movies. For me nothing beats a sharp script combined with stellar acting and beautiful clothes, all of which I typically find in films made between the 1930s and 1960s. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite classic films from my DVD collection with you all!
For starters, let’s talk about Sabrina.
Sabrina was one of the first Audrey Hepburn movies I saw, and it has remained one of my all time favorite films. I love the characters, the setting, the script, the music, and the costumes (Givenchey is to die for!) Audrey plays opposite William Holden and Humphrey Bogart, both of whom are splendid. The film is a romantic comedy centering around the life of Sabrina Fairchild, a chauffeur’s daughter from Long Island. Her father’s employer, Mr. Larrabee, has two sons, David- the young and careless one, and Linus- the older more serious one. Sabrina has been in love with David for as long as she can remember, so her father sends her off to cooking school to get over him- and the cooking school just happens to be in Paris! She gets herself a new haircut and becomes the epitome of sophistication. Her return home throws the Larrabee household into an uproar.
What are some of your favorite classic movies? Any plans for a movie night this week? I’d love to hear!
