Happy Monday friends! I’m starting to plan for my fall capsule wardrobe, even though the weather has gone back up to summer-esque proportions this week. I recently pulled all of my autumn clothing out of storage, and began to evaluate what I wanted to keep, get rid of, and purchase for the new season. Unfortunately a few of my pieces were attacked by some moths with expensive taste, so I’m anticipating having to replace a few more pieces than usual. While I’ll be thrifting and sewing several items, I also want to purchase from a few ethical brands this fall, both so that I can try them out, and so I can share my experiences with you. Here are some of the pieces I’m eyeing for autumn!
You guys know how much I love a good striped piece, and it struck me recently that a striped sweater would be a wonderful versatile addition to my wardrobe. I can see myself wearing one with jeans, skirts, and even over dresses. This merino option is currently in the choose what you pay section on the Everlane website, meaning it’s down to $62 from $88. For a 100% merino wool sweater, I think that’s a bargain.
I have a lot of floral dresses and skirts in my wardrobe, but I’d love to add a more fall appropriate piece, such as a blouse. Amour Vert’s silk blouses are right up my ally, and this number with the fun sleeve detailing is just beautiful. I love that the floral is set against a black background, making it feel more autumnal.
You may remember from last year’s capsule wardrobe posts that I purchased some higher quality black boots. I was so pleased with how they wore throughout the season, and this year, I’d love to add some high quality brown or neutral boots to my closet. Ankle boots with a slightly higher rise are really appealing to me right now, and the new Dari boots from Nisolo are a beautiful option.
Years of fast fashion shopping left me with no high-quality lasting cardigans, and since they are a fall essential for me, this year I want to invest in a classic quality piece that will stay in my wardrobe for years to come. This long black wool-cashmere cardigan is another item from Everlane’s choose what you pay page, marked down to $60 from $150!
I love a vintage inspired piece, and I’m loving the fact that Victorian inspired tops are still a thing. Sezane has some absolutely stunning options in their autumn collection, but this is one piece I’m planning to make myself this fall. I’ll be sure to post a video on it when I do!
A new pair of jeans is something I usually purchase between once or twice a year, and now that Everlane has a denim collection, I’d love to try theirs! Their jeans come in several styles, and are such a reasonable price for ethically made denim at $68. I’d love to get the high-rise style in a dark wash.
After years of wear, my favorite grey midi skirt, styled here, wasn’t looking it’s best. I passed it on to my sister who re-purposed it, and now I’m in the market for a new fall skirt. This flannel paper bag style piece from Sezane’s fall collection is just lovely, and may make it into my wardrobe this autumn.
