Merry & Bright

Bokeh Christmas Tree

Well friends, it’s Christmas Eve– a foggy, rainy, chilly Christmas Eve around here! What a treasure these days are spent with friends and family. Today I wanted to give you a little peek into some of my Christmas routines, traditions, and favorite things through some festive photos, and of course, wish the merriest most wonderful time to all celebrating.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

As I’ve gotten older, the things I look forward to over the holidays have simplified. Sitting with my family at a candlelit service, decorating together while watching Eloise at Christmastime, and reading A Christmas Carol by the fire while we work the Christmas jigsaw are all special traditions that I value. As an individual, I have a few personal mini-tradtions. I love to wrap gifts while listening to my holiday record collection. Favorites include Andy Williams and Perry Como– there’s nothing like a crooner at Christmas! This year I’ve also sent out some fun cards and gifts that were so fun to write and put together. Handwritten notes are so special in today’s fast-paced world, and I hope I can get better at writing them consistently!

Tonight I’ll be eating Italian food, and then curling up in my Christmas PJs to watch It’s a Wonderful Life, my all time favorite film. Christmas is a time that makes me reflective, and as I look back over the past year, I’m so thankful for each of you who has helped my blog grow. I’ve been so encouraged by this community, and I can’t wait to see where the next year will take us.

  1. Sounds like you have created some special traditions that make your holiday season special. I love Its a Wonderful Life; in fact my son and I just appeared a local theater Live Radio/Theater Stage Play production of this classic. My son played young George and had a blast.
I really enjoy your blog and you You Tube videos; looking forward to more.

    1. Thank you so much Lisa! How wonderful that you and your son appeared in that production– It’s such a great story. I so appreciate your kind words regarding my posts and videos, and I’m excited to share more! Wishing you and your family a wonderful new year!
