My Handbag Capsule

handbag collectionI’ve never been the girl who is super into handbags, but I know what I like, and I’ve collected a few bags that I love and that work for me. I like to think of the three bags I’m sharing today as my handbag capsule wardrobe, because they work with everything in my closet for a variety of different occasions. I love small bags with cross body straps because I don’t want to be worrying about my bag whenever I’m out and about. They keep my essentials secure and close at hand which I love. My handbag capsule includes two everyday bags as well as one that’s a little dressier. Read on to see my bags, and to find some great ethical handbag brands!

Vintage Handbag by Coach Vintage Coach Regina

I’ve been loving this vintage Coach Regina since I got it a couple of months ago. It’s the perfect everyday bag for me, and I love that the long strap can be removed if I want a more retro feel.

J Crew Suede Clutch

A girl needs a good clutch, and I love this suede number by J. Crew that I found on eBay a few years ago. It has a brass chain strap which tucks into the bag, and I love the two looks I can get with this one bag. It’s perfect for evenings out.

Brown Crossbody: Lauren Ralph LaurenLauren Ralph Lauren Crossbody Brown Crossbody Bag Ralph Lauren Bag

This little brown bag from Lauren Ralph Lauren is an old favorites, and I love it’s classic styling paired with modern practicality. The stitching and details are lovely, and the gold hardware is perfect.

Ethical Handbag Brands

You probably noticed that two thirds of my bags are second hand, which is probably my favorite way to source ethically, but I wanted to quickly share some ethically made brands that look amazing as well as some vegan options.

Nisolo

I love the aesthetic of the Nisolo brand, and they have a wonderful selection of leather totes and clutches. My Pick? The Sobre Leather Clutch.

Everlane

You guys know my love for Everlane, and they have a beautiful selection of bags and backpacks, including one made famous by Malia Obama herself! My pick? The Twill Zip Tote.

Angela Roi

If you’re looking to avoid leather, Angela Roi makes stunning luxury vegan bags in a beautiful range of colors. My pick? The Morning Crossbody.

That’s it for today– the autumn capsule wardrobe is coming oh so soon, and with it the return of outfit posts!!

Do you have a favorite handbag? I’d love to hear about it!

  1. You really can’t go wrong with a classic styled bag! I love that suede clutch from J.Crew.
My favourite bag is my second hand navy leather one that is similar in shape to a Kelly Bag. I love it because I know it will never go out of style. I saw an ad in a Vogue magazine from 1994, for a structured leather bag, that looks like it could have been sold in the 1950’s or today- it really is an ageless style. Now, to just find one in black. . . 🙂
    The Artyologist

  2. I cycle through my bags as the seasons change and usually one of my older ones suits a new need. My current favourites are: my black pleather mini backpack and my quilted blush shoulder bag with a chain strap. Surprisingly the mini-backpack has been hanging out in my laundry room forever, just waiting to come back in style. 🙂

I’m still on the lookout for the perfect clutch! I love a good clutch for date night or weddings, but my 3 are all *almost* right.

In case you’re wondering, my wardrobe is pretty staid, so I try to bring in interest through my accessories. I love your coach crossbody, though! I have a similar bag from my Aunt and it’s just right for ANYTHING! Plus it instantly makes me feel put-together.
