Outfit: At the Art Gallery

denim jacket outfit

This past Saturday my sisters and I headed down to our local art center to check out a Renoir painting temporarily on display. I’ve always loved museums, and I must say our local one is pretty stellar. The collection includes works by Monet, Renoir, and Picasso, and I find it so inspiring to walk around. For a day of weekend adventuring, I went with a comfortable outfit that I’ve been loving lately.

I recently found this denim jacket on ThredUp, and have been pleasantly surprised by how summer-appropriate it is! It keeps the heat off and is very breathable– I’ve been pairing it with several different pieces in my wardrobe lately. I love it with this little white eyelet cotton skirt. It’s breezy and feminine, and I think it’s a great juxtaposition with the jacket. Of course, since I was at an art center, I wore a piece by my favorite artist. This Paper Crown by Rifle Paper Company top is one of my favorite pieces I own. It’s so special to me to be able to wear something with such beautiful artwork on it. I finished off the look with simple brown sandals. These have a tiny wedge which keeps them easy to wear, but gives a bit of a polish. You might even say that they- wait for it— elevate the look! Sorry, I’ll stop. art gallery photos

  1. I LOVE art museums. While I am not as well versed on different artists (unfortunately) I love looking at the detail in each creation or painting. I think art museums will forever be my favorite place to take pictures and I am so jealous that your museum had blue walls. These pictures are so darling.

    1. I agree Madison! It’s amazing to me to stand up close to an old painting looking at the brushwork, and thinking about the time and thought the artist put into the piece all those years ago. It’s just magical! Thanks for your sweet words and for stopping by today! 😀

  2. I’ve always wondered how gals can wear denim jackets in summer! I’m sure in a cool gallery or air conditioned library like I work at, it would really come in handy!!
    Loving these photos!

    1. Thanks so much Abigail! I had always wondered the same thing, but I’ve been surprised at how comfortable it is in the heat! It seems to keep the sun off, but still be breathable, so win-win! 😀
Thank you for stopping by my blog, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. So fun! Which museum is it?! I ask because we try to hit them on every trip we take! We LOVE art museums, I used to be an art history major. We have a really nice (FREE!) one in Kansas City – which is fabulous. We have one of Monet’s water Lilies as well! Which is crazy, it’s such a gorgeous collection! We have visited so many on our travels… recently the ones in Savannah were really lovely and diverse! 🙂 Xo – Alexandra

    1. Thanks Alexandra! It’s the Arkansas Art Center here in Little Rock, and it’s free too which is awesome! That’s amazing that yours has one of the water lilies! I’m a little jealous. 😉 I’m so surprised by the great pieces we have…in Arkansas of all places!
I hope you are having a great day!
