Outfit: Begin Again

The title of this post first came to my mind because this outfit was inspired by Keira Knightley’s style in the film Begin Again, but it’s fitting in more ways than that. Post-grad life is full of new beginnings and opportunities in ways I never anticipated, and everyday has been an adventure since I left my university. I’m excited to have registered a few piano students for the fall season, and can’t wait to get started teaching and sharing my love of music. I’m also loving having the opportunity to blog so consistently, work on photo shoots, and spend time with the people I’ve missed so much for the past few years. The summer was been so sweet and beautiful, and I’m relishing in this season of life. There are of course doubts and fears as I move forward, but I have confidence in who holds my future.

I mentioned that this outfit was inspired by Begin Again, which is a wonderful movie, especially if you’re a musician! It’s quiet, unique, and quirky, and I really enjoyed it, but I especially loved it for Keira Knightley’s outfits through the whole film. She plays a singer/songwriter, and always wears these great trousers and interesting tops along with the occasional vintage style dress. She also rides a bike throughout the film, so of course I shot these photos on a bike ride! My sister Keeley and I went biking and realized just how out of shape we are. 😉 You may recognize these pieces from my capsule wardrobe video! I love wearing these breezy rayon trousers in the summer heat, and they pair perfectly with this little denim shirt. pink flowers

  1. Hi! I love your outfit. That movie is really great, I love Mark Ruffalo and the fact that it’s not the typical love story, but it’s somehow full of love anyway! Best regards from Barcelona, Spain,

    1. Hi Marta! Thank you so much for reading my blog and commenting! I agree with you so much about Begin Again! One of my favorite parts was that she ended up on her own, and yet it was so happy and like you said, full of love! Again, thank you for your kind comment!

  2. Ok Lauren, I might be freaking out just a little bit over the fabulousness of these pictures. This ensemble is so perfectly comfy and summery, but the bike is seriously my favorite thing. I have always wanted a bike like that but I can’t make up a good excuse to get one except as a picture prop 🙂

    1. Awww, thank you Madison!! I’m in love with this bike! I got it last summer, and used it so much when I lived in an off campus apartment! Now that I’m back home, I pretty much only use it for fun and to go over to my grandparents house since they live close to me, but yes, it is a great picture prop! 😀 Thank you so much for always taking the time to brighten up my day with your sweet and thoughtful comments! It means a lot to me!

  3. I love your pants! I need to see Begin Again (am I the only one who has movies she loves just because of the fashion? The Devil Wears Prada is one of those for me. :). I definitely resonate with feeling a little uncertain and a little excited at the same time – I’m taking a gap year between high school and college, and so when you’re only working and working and working, it can begin to feel a little mundane. I’m loving getting to get coffee with friends and have picnics and all that jazz without the pressure of schoolwork, but I do miss the scholarly life and look forward to hitting the books hard again next year. I think it takes a while to find a sense of purpose again after you graduate, but once you do it’s the best thing ever. 🙂
Best of luck to you! <3

    1. Thanks Carmel! I totally watch movies just for the fashion half the time. 😀 My sister is taking a gap year right now as well! I think that is such a wise thing to do, and props to you for making that decision! Wishing you all the luck in the world during this year and as you move on to college! 🙂

  4. That top is so cute!! These photos are also really lovely. I haven’t seen Begin again but I will definitely be checking it out soon.

I graduated from school a year ago (wait what?) and I still feel confused about life haha. But I’m glad you’re using your summer for more enjoyment than I did. I was just stressed about finding a job but it ended up working out in the end!

Also – I’m so glad there are other Arkansas bloggers! (i think we might be in the same city based on your instagram posts!) I don’t know anyone else who blogs here so it’s nice to know there are some out here.

    1. Thanks so much for commenting Lee! I’m so excited to hear that you’re from Arkansas! I’ve literally never met another blogger from Arkansas, so it’s awesome to hear from you! It makes me hopeful that a blogging community will start to take root here– maybe we are just the pioneers. 🙂 Looking forward to checking out your blog, and I hope you are having a wonderful day!
