Outfit: Striped Midi (Made by me!)

midi dress outfit

I’ve mentioned my love of dresses during the sticky summer months a few times here on the blog, so when I made this little knit number, I knew I would have to blog about it! I love the classic fit of the dress, the fresh midi length, the elbow sleeves, and the fact that it’s oh-so comfortable. I made it from a double sided knit fabric that is striped on one side, and polka dotted on the other. It’s so fun to see the dots peeking out every now and then.

This dress has already become quite a staple in my wardrobe and I’ve worn it everywhere from dinner to the coffee shop to the movies. I love pairing it with my favorite pointy-toe studded shoes. They are basically as close as I can get to Valentino rock stud flats, and I’m okay with that. For this look, I borrowed my sisters adorable neutral handbag with gold chain detailing. I think it finishes the look off perfectly. The resulting outfit was just right for a little reading and chatting at my favorite coffee spot…although it was a little too hot for that Americano I ordered!

What’s your go-to coffee shop order this time of year? How about the book you are currently reading? I’d love to hear!

  1. Double side knit; that sounds lovely, is the fabric cotton and do you know the designer and if it is available online? I think I need to invest in more making upscale knitwear, but I am not a solid fabric person unless it is a skirt and top ensemble.

  2. Soooooooooooo In love with this classic sillouette and the stripes! Knit dresses are seriously the best in the summer and I love everything about this one and the whole ensemble in general:) My go to coffee shop drink in the summer is either a hat Latte or an iced latte. I usually work through a number of books in the summer. Right now however, I am reading a book for my summer school class called “Beyond Teh Blackboard” and it is so inspiring to me as a future teacher.

    1. Thank you so much Victoria! I actually got the fabric just from Joann fabrics! It’s a knit, and here is the link: http://www.joann.com/reversible-knit-stripe-dot-black-ray-ctn/12946166.html I loved the pattern– since it’s a pattern designed for knits, it was a really quick sew because of the small number of pieces. I had it done in just a couple of hours which is always nice! Thank you for stopping by my blog!
