Planning for My Winter Capsule Wardrobe

Planning a capsule wardrobeWinter is finally hitting my city, and as I type this, there’s a chance of snow. The chill in the air has me thinking more about my winter capsule wardrobe and the pieces that I want to wear for the next few months. I don’t have a lot of pieces in my closet that are exclusive to either winter or fall, so I’m sure there will be some overlap between the two seasons, but I have a few new additions to make as  well as some items to switch out.

I’m once again utilizing my capsule wardrobe planner which is still available for you to use also. It contains space for planning your shopping, color scheme, a list of ethical brands, and more! You can download the planner here, and I hope you find it helpful! Another resource I’m really enjoying as I plan is The Curated Closet by Anuschka Rees. It’s full of great advice on personal style and developing a wardrobe you love.

Let’s get planning.

My Color Palettewintercapsulecolors

If you read my winter style experiment post, you already know that I’m planning to go with a more subdued and neutral color palette this season as I try out a more minimal look. The shades I’ve chosen include grey, black, blush, cream, white, camel, green, and blue. This season I really want to play with creating polished looks from basic pieces, and I think these colors all coordinate beautifully together.

Items on my Wishlist
Jeans

I’ve started to wear out a lot of my jeans, and I’m in the market for some new ones. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on shopping for jeans in an upcoming post, so keep an eye out for that!

A Blush Button Down

I’ve noticed I’m missing basic blouses in my wardrobe. I have a lot of tees and sweaters, but not a lot of tops that feel a little more elevated. I’m in love with blush pink right now, and I think it would be the perfect shade for a silk button down blouse.

A Cozy Scarf

If you’ve looked at my Pinterest board I’m using to plan this capsule, you will have probably noticed a lot of the inspiration outfits include big cozy scarves. I love the look of these, and I’d love to have one in my wardrobe.

A Button Front Midi Skirt

My black button front midi skirt is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe, and I want to add another one that is similar to it in a different color. This is an item I’ll be sewing for myself.

Casual Sneakers

I’ve been wanting to play with styling sneakers into my casual looks, and I’m in love with these blush pink ones from Veja.

I’m excited to share the finalized capsule with you soon, and I hope those of you that are creating a capsule wardrobe can draw some inspiration from this post!
