I took a little break from the blog last week to focus on teaching and getting over a cold at the same time, but after a restful weekend, I’m feeling refreshed with ideas and excited about the content I’ll be bringing you over the next several weeks. Today, though, let’s talk about a few things:
Scarves, simplicity, and Emma Stone.
I’ve been working to incorporate pieces into my outfits that make them feel more polished, and right now I’m having a moment with scarves. They retain that simple feel, but elevate the look that extra amount. I’m all about long scarves, and I love the lines they create. One of my favorite ladies to look to for style inspiration is Emma Stone. Her casual style is always excellent, and I love the slightly quirky vibe of her event looks. I recently saw a picture of her wearing a long gauzy scarf, and that picture inspired this look.
I paired my favorite jeans with a slightly oversized grey sweater. I got this one at Goodwill last year, and I’m always being asked where I got it. It’s definitely one of my favorite thrifted pieces! Since the base of the look is so simple, I wanted to add good accessories. This cream scarf is actually one I’ve been borrowing from my sister, and I’m obsessed with it. It’s light, but still warm, and adds so much elegance. My jewelry is minimal as usual, and includes my gold bar studs and a handmade leaf ring a friend recently brought me from Athens! I love the autumnal touch it brings into different looks. Since I was feeling inspired by Emma Stone, I broke out my Billie boots after seeing her wear hers in several pictures. They just keep getting better, and the more I wear them the more I love them. I love pairing them with my vintage Coach Regina for a cohesive feel.
