Spring 10×10 Style Challenge: Look No. 1

spring capsule wardrobe outfit with midi skirt

Happy Monday friends! I hope you’re week is off to a positive and productive start! Today I’m excited to be sharing my first look in the spring 10×10 challenge. Over the next several days, I’ll be mixing up ten different wardrobe pieces to create different looks. You can check out Friday’s post to see the pieces I chose for this challenge in case you missed it. For this first look, I incorporated three wardrobe pieces together along with a few fun accessories. It’s feminine, springy, and super comfortable.

Read on for details about the pieces I chose, where I wore this look, and how to shop my outfit!

The pieces

  1. A cream lace midi skirt (thrifted, similar)
  2. A blush pink tee (Everlane)
  3. A cropped denim jacket (ThredUp, similar)

I recently thrifted this pretty cream lace midi skirt, and I’ve been so excited to style it for spring. For this first look I paired it with a boxy blush tee by Everlane. To bring the waist in a bit, I knotted the tee to the side, and topped the look off with a denim jacket. The jacket is slightly cropped and has a good fit, bringing the waist in and adding a light layer for evening. The resulting silhouette is so classic, and one of my favorites to wear.

The accessories

  1. A blush pink cross-body bag (Everlane)
  2. Vintage Chanel ballet flats (eBay)
  3. A blush pink watch (Berg + Betts)
  4. A dainty gold necklace (Madewell)

If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you know I’ve been working on my accessorization skills for the past few months, so coming into this challenge, I knew accessories were something I would want to emphasize. For this look I took a cue from my blush tee and added my favorite blush bag. It’s made in Spain and is absolutely beautiful. I also put on my blush pink recycled leather watch which is rarely off my wrist. A dainty gold necklace and vintage ballet flats finish off the look with a touch of sweetness.

I wore this look for a few Sunday activities including a morning church service, and an afternoon at the symphony. My local symphony does an annual Beethoven & Blue Jeans concert, but this year I opted to keep the denim to my jacket. 😉 The outfit was perfect for the breezy sunny weather outside, and the jacket kept me warm enough in a chilly concert hall.

  1. Looks great!! I love pairing a jean jacket with a skirt! I hardly EVER wear skirts anymore, but when I do, my thrifted cropped jean jacket always feels so “cool”!

I can’t decide whether to join the fun…I struggled with the 10 x 10 over the winter. So, instead of planning it, I’m setting what I wore each day aside and when I get to 10 items, I’m going to try to mix and match for 10 days. So, it’s A NO PLANNING 10 X 10. If it works, it works. If not, oh well! 😉

    1. Thank you so much Holly! I love the idea of a no planning 10 x 10!! I can already tell I’m going to struggle to come up with a lot of different outfits, but hopefully it won’t be too bad. 😉 I’d love to hear how your no planning 10 x 10 works out in the end!
      Happy Tuesday!
