Spring 10×10 Style Challenge: Look No. 8

how to style high waisted white jeans

This 10×10 challenge is quickly coming to an end, and I’ve had so much fun mixing up my wardrobe over the past two weeks! I’m back today with look 8, and this look is one of my personal favorites so far. It’s the kind of thing I can totally see myself wearing while wondering around a European city (I’ve got a mild case of wanderlust,) but it lends a touch of European elegance to my everyday life. At its root, this outfit is basically just a good old-fashioned jeans and tee combo, but the design and cut of each piece make it more interesting, and it looks like it took much more effort than it did.

It’s fresh, classic, and perfect for spring.

The Pieces

  1. A striped tee (Thrifted, similar)
  2. Wide leg cropped pants (Everlane)

I love the look of bright ivory trousers with a sharp striped tee. It’s a nod to classic nautical style, and reminds me of a scene in Coco Chanel where they create outfits from sailor’s clothing. Since these pants have traditional jean styling and are made of stretchy denim, they are just as comfortable as wearing a pair of jeans. My tee is also light and comfortable, and to further emphasize the high waist of the trousers, I knotted it in front.

The Accessoriesneutral wedge sandals for spring

  1. A blush bandana (Madewell)
  2. A blush crossbody (Everlane)
  3. Neutral wedge sandals (DSW, sooo old)
  4. A blush watch (Berg + Betts)
  5. Retro inspired sunglasses (Madewell)

If you haven’t noticed already, blush is a neutral in my closet. 😉 I paired this look with a blush bandana scarf, crossbody bag, and watch, and I love the combination of colorful accessories with a completely neutral outfit. I had a bit of fun with shoes for this look, and pulled out my chunky wedge sandals. These are some of my most comfortable shoes, and I’ve loved them for years.

Today was a standard Wednesday, and I spent most of it teaching. This look is perfect for work, but comfortable enough that I wore it while hanging some shelves in my bathroom this evening. I may or may not have had to watch approximately 5 YouTube tutorials to understand how to hang a floating shelf, but my bathroom looks a heck of a lot prettier now! For now, I’m off to change to my pjs, make a smoothie, and watch some I Love Lucy.

I’ll be back tomorrow with look 9– it’s almost the end folks!

  1. Oh my goodness, this look is my favorite so far, I think! It’s hard to pick just one. But I LOVE how you added the bandana 🙂
