Spring 10×10 Style Challenge: Look No. 9

audrey hepburn inspired fashion blog It’s the second to last day of my spring 10×10 style challenge, and today I’m sharing another casual look. As I mentioned last week, Thursday’s are all about comfort and ease for me, and today was no exception. Even though this outfit is comprised of very basic pieces, I love the classic feel it has. It’s the kind of thing that is definitely laid back, but still has a touch of elegance. I have to admit I did find myself itching to wear a different top then those I chose for my challenge, but I stuck with it, and I’m happy with the result. Plus it’s just one more day until I get to play around with every piece in my closet!

If Audrey Hepburn wore jeans and a t-shirt, I think it would have looked something like this.

  1. A striped tee (Thrifted, similar)
  2. High-waisted jeans (Target, old)

Today’s outfit was literally just jeans and a t-shirt! For me the trick to making this look feel a touch more elegant is wearing a striped tee rather than a solid or graphic option. It’s quintessentially Parisian, and even though it’s just as comfortable as any other tee, it feels a bit more pulled together. I love the high-waisted cropped cut of my dark wash jeans. They’re a nod to the cigarette pants of the 1950s, and always make me think of Audrey Hepburn.

  1. Beige and black ballet flats (vintage Chanel, shop vintage Chanel shoes on Etsy for some amazing deals!)
  2. A black crossbody (Vintage Coach, find it in several colors on Etsy)
  3. A blush watch (Berg+Betts)

In the interest of simplicity, I didn’t add a lot of accessories today. I wore my vintage ballerinas, and I love the element of classic sophistication they bring to even the most casual looks. My crossbody bag and Berg+Betts watch were practical finishing touches for a busy day. I did play around with a new hairstyle today, and although I’ve never been much good at styling my hair, I love how a different way of wearing it changes up a look.how to dress like audrey hepburn

This morning I traded my ballet flats for sneakers while I worked with the kids at a local international group. I know I’ve mentioned the group a few times before, but it truly is one of the highlights of my week. I spent my entire morning there, and then quickly came home to change my shoes and grab my badge and teaching materials before heading out to teach a few piano lessons. I took my bike out for a little while this evening to enjoy the beautiful weather, and now I’m excited about having it out for the spring and summer again! Later this evening I’m planning to trade the ballet flats in for slippers, and do a bit of cleaning while I catch up on some Netflix.

And that’s it for look 9! I can hardly believe it, but I’ll be back tomorrow with the last look in my 10×10! Thank you all so much for reading these posts and supporting me on this challenge!

  1. Hi, Lauren! I just finished catching up with your 10×10 style challenge and I love it!
Do you mind if I just compile all my comments here? (if you do, I’m sorry but here goes…)
First of all, I absolutely adore how you knot your t-shirts! I always find difficulty doing that but love how it looks on other people. Please teach me how to do it properly! :’) Also, I’m smitten with the selection of items that you picked out—especially the Rifle Paper Co. skirt <3 You have an amazing eye for remixing and it's really lovely to see all the items being worn in various different ways.
I'm doing something similar on my blog next week—it's the Fashion Mixology, have you heard of it? But instead of 10, I'll only be using 8 pieces. It's been really fun trying to remix them. You've inspired me to span them out in 10 posts like you do here, though, so I might join you on this challenge sometime ˆ ˆ

Can't wait to see the last outfit!
