I love YouTube. One of my favorite ways to chill out after work is to make a good cup of tea or coffee, and sit down to catch up on my favorite channels. When I first started to get into the YouTube world, most of the channels I watched focused primarily on makeup and skincare, but over the past couple of years, I’ve come to love channels that focus on personal style. I love the creativity that goes into each video, and I always walk away with inspiration for new ways to wear the items in my closet. Since fashion channels are a little more difficult to come across, today I’m rounding up my four current favorites.
Christmas is coming oh-so quickly, and today I’m excited to share a fun DIY gift wrap tutorial with you! I recently became aware that most gift wrap is not recyclable, and I wanted to come up with a beautiful way to present gifts that can still be recycled. I came up with this super cute gold polka dotted paper, and it’s so easy to make! All you need is an old grocery bag (I used Whole Foods which is a great size,) and a metallic gold paint pen. You can really customize this paper to be your own unique style, and I love that it’s made from a recycled material and can be recycled again– plus it’s just so pretty!
Grab your crafting supplies and Christmas gifts, and let’s get wrapping!
I love mixing up natural skincare products using amazing ingredients. It’s kind of like my grown-up version of a really fun science experiment. Summer often leaves me with pretty dry lips, so when I found myself mixing up a quick lip scrub, I thought I would share my recipe with you guys! I’ve tried Lush’s popular lip scrub, and honestly, I prefer to make my own. Using the basic base of coconut oil and sugar, you can add any of your favorite scents and customize the recipe to suit you. Rosewater is a favorite for me, so that’s what I’ve mixed up here, and I think it complements the light fragrance of the coconut oil nicely.
I’ve never dealt with a hatred for Valentine’s Day as a single person- I just use it as excuse to embrace everything pink, floral, and Victorian. Also I may or may not eat a lot of chocolate. I love the excuse to send something handmade to people I love, and today I’m sharing some of my ideas for handmade cards!
When I decided I was going to move into an apartment for this school year, I knew I was going to need to source out some furniture. My mom and I went “garage-saleing” (technical term 😉 ) several times over the summer, and I was able to find some great pieces. At one sale I found two cute kitchen chairs. I loved the shape, but wasn’t crazy about the finish and thought they might lend themselves well to a fun coat of paint. I bought them for $5 each, and tried to come up with the perfect color to paint them.
A minty aqua blue came to mind, and I headed to the hardware store in search of the perfect paint. My mom and I came across an interesting paint and primer spray paint combination in the perfect color, so I decided to give it a try. I love how easy the paint was to use, and I also love the finished look of the chairs!
They bring a little bit of color and fun into our dining space which always brightens up my day. There’s still tons to do around here to make it more homey, but I think these chairs were a good start. 🙂
Do you have any furniture in fun colors? Have you ever redone or painted an old piece of furniture? I’d love to hear about it!
