Boots Made for Walking
Come October, you’ll usually find me in a pair of well loved ankle boots. I love how versatile they are, and the slight polish they lend to even the most laid-back of looks. When I first began to explore ethical fashion, I struggled to find shoes and boots that were what I wanted, but as time has passed, the options have increased. Today I’m sharing my favorite ankle boots on the market this autumn to give you some beautiful mindful options, and hopefully spare you the endless Google trail I went on a couple of years ago. Get ready to stomp through the autumn leaves! Here’s the footwear for the job.
Today’s guest for 5 Wardrobe Essentials is one of my favorite ladies to follow on Instagram, Hannah Briggs of Thistle Harvest. Not only is her Instagram account beautiful and inspiring, she also has a wonderful blog discussing everything from interior decorating to vintage dresses. Every time I get a chance to read her writing, I feel like I’ve just met a friend for coffee and a chat. Vintage for Autumn
Fall is quite possibly my favorite time of year when it comes to dressing. I love all of the layering, cozy knitted pieces, plaid, tweed, and combinations of neutral and jewel tones. The textures and colors create so much warmth, dimension, and interest allowing for a wonderful sense of creativity in the construction of an outfit. As I’ve approached autumn dressing this year, I’ve found myself browsing vintage shops. There are so many incredible classic pieces available for this season, making it a great time to experiment with vintage shopping if you haven’t already. From cable knits, to unique outerwear, here are some of my favorites this fall.
Ah the midi skirt. It’s one of my wardrobe staples, and yet it’s a tricky style, especially in the cooler months. I love the vintage inspired silhouette they create and the fact that they just make me feel graceful even though most of the time I’m a total klutz. The longer hemline can make a midi a bit more difficult to wear in conjunction with warmer wardrobe pieces without the look being overwhelming.
Here are my 5 tips for styling a classic midi for fall without the frump factor.
It’s no secret that I love Audrey Hepburn for her style, her acting, and who she was as a person. Her personal style off and on camera inspires me– her sleek looks were so ahead of the time. Today’s look is my first capsule combination of the fall season, and I drew a lot of inspiration from Audrey.
