I’ve been wearing a capsule wardrobe for two seasons at this point, and I find that there are a few basics that I plan to always have in my capsule. These are simple, casual pieces that can be worn in so many different ways, and their versatility makes them perfect for a capsule wardrobe. Today I’m sharing four basics for your wardrobe, and while I’m sure there are more than four basics in my closet, I think these pieces are a great place to start in a more intentional wardrobe!

I remember first hearing about a designer named Eileen Fisher as a kid. My mom loved her designs, and would point them out whenever we were at a department store that carried her line. I never thought much about her clothes, other than to think, “Oh there’s that line my mom likes!” until this past year when I rediscovered Eileen’s work and style, and it resonated with me in a whole new way. Eileen Fisher’s efforts in ethics and sustainability in the fashion world stand out among an industry that tends to care more about profits over morals, and her fluid effortless designs have remained timeless for the 32 years her brand has existed. I love following the brand’s Instagram account because it shows you how incredibly fresh and modern the clothes look on women of all ages– when to we ever see such agelessness in the industry?
