Happy weekend, and happy April friends! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week! I’ve been getting back into the teaching routine after spring break, and things are getting busy as the school year draws to a close. My students are prepping for a recital, and it’s so fun to be on the teaching side of a performance. Apart from work, my week was full of spending time with friends, working on YouTube content, #nationalstripesday, and recovering from last week’s cold. Spring has arrived in Little Rock, and I’m so starting to look forward to switching my wardrobe over for the warmer weather. I’ve collected a few new pieces for my spring capsule, and I’m so excited to share them with you all! For now, it’s time for another round of weekend links.
I’ve always had a soft spot for all things French. French was my favorite subject in high school, Paris is one of my favorite places I’ve been, and most of my favorite artists from composers to designers have hailed from France. I love trying to incorporate Parisian touches into my outfits, and while I’d never dare say that I have French girl cool style down, I’m definitely learning how to nod towards Paris when I get dressed.
These five essentials definitely help.
It’s no secret that I love Audrey Hepburn for her style, her acting, and who she was as a person. Her personal style off and on camera inspires me– her sleek looks were so ahead of the time. Today’s look is my first capsule combination of the fall season, and I drew a lot of inspiration from Audrey.
I love vintage style, and while I used to really enjoy wearing vintage inspired clothes all the time, I now lean a little more towards clean and modern outfits. My heart still loves retro looks, but for my lifestyle and personality, I think simple is better. I still have pieces in my wardrobe that I used to wear in more full on retro ways, and it’s been a fun challenge to try and style them to be a little more on trend. This dress is an example of one I bought while on my vintage kick. It came from ModCloth, and I love the neutral colors and of course the stripes. Striped pieces are a great way to add something classic to an outfit while still keeping it fresh. To keep this dress from being too cutesy, I added some more elegant accessories. Minimal gold jewelry and sandals with a nice wide ankle strap bring some great lines to the look, and the addition of a jean jacket makes it a little more tomboy which I love. I added a touch of fuchsia lipstick to finish off the look. It nods to the past, but feels very modern.
