If you have been a reader of Chic Éthique for a while, you will know that I love thrift shopping for my wardrobe. It’s an economical way to fill out a wardrobe while being conscious of the environment, ethics, and charitable causes all at once. Growing up, my mother shopped for me at thrift shops and garage sales, and as a teenager, I didn’t like wearing thrifted things or visiting thrift stores. As I learned more about the fashion industry, however, I fell in love with it, and was so grateful to my mom for showing me how it was done, even if I didn’t appreciate it at the time. I often get asked if I have any advice for thrifting, so today I’m sharing five thrifting tips. Find them below in both written and video forms, and let’s get thrifting!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to reflect on another month, but here I am, typing up a reflection on March! March was such a fun and full month, and I’m so grateful for the good times and memories it held. I’m excited about April, and I’m planning to put out content either here on the blog, or over on the YouTube channel every. single. day. this month! I need the creative boost of producing a lot of material, and I really hope you will enjoy seeing what I create over the next several weeks. If you have any requests for posts or videos, just let me know! As usual, stay tuned to the end of this post for my March favorites video and a peek into the next month.
To start things off, here are some things that brought me joy in the month of March.
Well friends, another weekend is here, and I’m spending it trying to get over a cold which means lots of ginger tea and quiet work. Despite being ill, I can’t say I’m mad about it! I got back from Chicago late Wednesday night, and can’t wait to share all of the content I shot while I was traveling– I even tried my hand at creating a travel and outfit vlog that I’ll be posting to my YouTube channel soon! Life has been pretty quiet this week since I’m a teacher, and it’s spring break. I’m grateful for the opportunity to rest and recover, and I’m looking forward to being back to working with my students on Monday.
But for now, it’s time for another round of weekend links!
February always passes quickly since it’s such a short month, but this year it was so full of activity that it rushed by at an even greater speed! Today I’ll be sharing some of the highlights of my month that are both personal and blog related. Stick around to the end of this post for a little peek at some of my March plans as well as my February favorites video!
But first, here are the memories that brought me joy this month.
Today I’m excited to finally share my winter capsule wardrobe for 2017! I surprised myself by minimizing even further, and ended up with a 24 piece wardrobe for the winter season. If you remember from my planning post, I confined myself to a color scheme this season, and I feel that taking that step has made my wardrobe much more cohesive. Many of these pieces will look familiar to you if you’ve followed me for the past few seasons, but there are some new additions as well which I’m excited about. As usual, I filmed my capsule wardrobe so you can get a good idea of what the pieces are like, and I’ve also included a listing of each piece with links to currently available items. I hope this provides some wardrobe inspiration for you!
