Happy Monday friends! Last Thursday was my 24th birthday, and I had such a nice day spent with family and dear friends. I always love my birthday, not so much for the celebration, while I do love that, as much as for the time to reflect on what I’ve done and been blessed with in the past year. I also love to take this time to come up with a list of goals I want to achieve at the new age I’ve reached. I’m told I should compile a 25 before 25 bucket list– have any of you done this? This year I’m particularly aware of just how much can change in a year as I think back to last summer when I was totally unsure of my path after my college graduation that spring. Since then I’ve been given so many wonderful opportunities, and I’ve grown so much. I even managed to mostly conquer my fear of driving!
Vintage but Trendy
I love it when trends and vintage overlap, and fortunately for me, they do quite often! This spring, basket bags have been everywhere, and I think they are just adorable. According to fashion history, designers in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, thought they were pretty adorable too, making this trend a perfect one to shop at your favorite vintage, thrift, or Etsy shop. I’ve had so much fun hunting down pretty straw bags on Etsy, and today I’m rounding up five recent favorites. Whether you need a new bag for the farmer’s market, or the perfect quirky piece to pair with your favorite summer dress, these vintage numbers will have you looking warm weather ready.
Today marks the start of Fashion Revolution Week, and in the spirit of this week, I wanted to share some tips on one of my favorite things: ethical shopping, and in particular budget ethical shopping. When I first made the switch to ethical fashion, I was concerned about finding pieces I loved in my price point, and while there are a lot of good reasons to invest in more expensive pieces, sometimes you simply can’t make those expenditures. I’m young, and working on saving rather than spending a lot of money on costly clothing, and as much as I love style, I’ve found methods of expressing it and shopping ethically without breaking the bank.
Here are my top 5 tips for shopping ethically on a budget
It’s the second to last day of my spring 10×10 style challenge, and today I’m sharing another casual look. As I mentioned last week, Thursday’s are all about comfort and ease for me, and today was no exception. Even though this outfit is comprised of very basic pieces, I love the classic feel it has. It’s the kind of thing that is definitely laid back, but still has a touch of elegance. I have to admit I did find myself itching to wear a different top then those I chose for my challenge, but I stuck with it, and I’m happy with the result. Plus it’s just one more day until I get to play around with every piece in my closet!
If Audrey Hepburn wore jeans and a t-shirt, I think it would have looked something like this.
Happy Monday friends! I hope you’re week is off to a positive and productive start! Today I’m excited to be sharing my first look in the spring 10×10 challenge. Over the next several days, I’ll be mixing up ten different wardrobe pieces to create different looks. You can check out Friday’s post to see the pieces I chose for this challenge in case you missed it. For this first look, I incorporated three wardrobe pieces together along with a few fun accessories. It’s feminine, springy, and super comfortable.
