Boots Made for Walking
Come October, you’ll usually find me in a pair of well loved ankle boots. I love how versatile they are, and the slight polish they lend to even the most laid-back of looks. When I first began to explore ethical fashion, I struggled to find shoes and boots that were what I wanted, but as time has passed, the options have increased. Today I’m sharing my favorite ankle boots on the market this autumn to give you some beautiful mindful options, and hopefully spare you the endless Google trail I went on a couple of years ago. Get ready to stomp through the autumn leaves! Here’s the footwear for the job.
A note on “Ethical”
I realize that the word ethical can have many meanings, and my goal with this post is to address multiple ethical concerns. You will notice I have included both leather and vegan options, and I understand there are arguments for both. I hope this post simply provides you with options so that you can make the best choice for your life and convictions.
These classic chelsea boots from fashionABLE are comfy fall perfection. Handmade in Peru, the Diana Boot comes in three colors of suede and has a low walkable heel. FashionABLE products are all made by women who have overcome difficult circumstances.
I’m loving the slightly taller ankle boot trend this year, and the Cartier Boots by Matt & Nat are so chic. These vegan boots have a side zipper, two inch heel, and come in three colors. Matt & Nat manufactures all of their vegan goods in regularly visited factories, and uses more sustainable materials than most vegan shoe companies.
For a more laid-back look, I love Nisolo’s Isa Boot. This style is a nod to the chukka boot, and features lace-up styling and five color options. Nisolo’s shoes are all ethically made in Peru, and all leather used is byproduct.
These minimal ankle boots would be a versatile addition to any wardrobe. Available in two colors, I can see these vegan booties with jeans, dresses, and everything in-between.
Everlane’s Suede Heel Boot has a bit of a masculine edge, and comes in five beautiful colors. All Everlane shoes are made in Italy of vegetable-tanned leather, but I believe they are currently in the testing phase for vegan leather options. Something I love about Everlane are their factory profiles, and you can visit the one where these boots are made here.
Another style by Nisolo, the Dari Boot is a new release available in black and a neutral shade. I love the elegant streamlined appearance of this design, and can see it working beautifully for a variety of outfits and occasions.
Everlane’s latest shoe release is their Boss Boot, a modern style with a pointy toe. This boot is available in four styles, some in suede, and some in leather. The Boss Boot is also a great more affordable alternative to the Acne Studios Jensen Boots!
