The Good Things: January

January Instagram Grid FavoritesThis year I want to get back into the habit of sharing some more personal posts here on the blog with the purpose of you getting to know me better! If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember that I used to share a monthly recap and goal list. In 2017 I’m starting something along the same lines, but a little bit different.

Especially with all that is going on in our world at the moment, it’s easy to get bogged down and forget all of the awesome things that are happening in our personal circles.

So I present to you The Good Things; a monthly list of memories that brought me joy.

January, 2017

New Year’s

My new year started off on a high note after a fun evening with sisters and friends, playing cards, eating food, and laughing way too much.

Coffee Dates

While my sister Keeley was in town for the Christmas break, we went on Saturday morning coffee dates that were so much fun. We drank way to many lattes and chatted for hours.

Work

I started a second teaching job that made my schedule a little more crazy, but my week a little more meaningful.

Reading

So far so good on my reading goal for the year! I finished Carrie Brownstein’s memoir, and started on The Hobbit. I’m also re-reading Jane Austen’s Emma which is bringing back lot’s of happy memories.

Blogging and YouTube

It’s been a busy month for me in terms of blogging, and I love it! I took a lot of photos, wrote a lot of words, and filmed and edited a lot of video files. In January I created 11 new blog posts and 6 new YouTube videos, which kept me plenty busy, but I’m hoping to create even more in February. I also have several exciting new things in the works that I can’t wait to share with all of you!

La La Land

I saw La La Land twice, danced around an empty theater once, and still can’t get enough of the soundtrack. I’m now ready to switch from being a classical pianist to a jazz pianist. 😉

New Friends

I’ve continued my work with a local immigrant group taking care of children which is just the best. I’m trying to get to know their moms more each week. Last week my friend Brynna and I also began going to a conversation club for international people, and we met so many wonderful new friends whom I look forward to getting to know better.

  1. Love it, Lauren! it is easy to get bogged down in negativity, so I am glad to hear a positive voice reverberating out of the midst of it. Also those pictures are stunning! <3
