The Pumpkin Vest

Anthrologie Vest, Everlane Tee, Ruche Trousers

This season I’ve been really into vests for outerwear. I included two of them in my capsule wardrobe, and since we’ve has such unseasonably warm temperatures, they’ve been practical for adding an autumnal layer without too much warmth.

I picked up this pumpkin hued number at Anthropologie before putting my capsule together. I knew I wanted a longer vest, and I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it. I quickly checked the brand, and saw that it’s made by Elevenses in the USA. I was able to find it on sale for an extra percentage off which was awesome, and I’m so happy to have a fun high-quality piece like this in my closet.

It’s still available on the Anthro website, and is an extra 40% off the sale price!

This look is a little bit unintentionally Halloween appropriate. I love pairing the vest with a neutral base, so here I went for my mid sleeve tee from Everlane and my favorite black trousers from Ruche. Originally I opted not to keep these light-weight trousers in my capsule for the fall, but since the weather has remained so warm, I swapped my black jeans out for these. You’re probably getting bored with my accessories, but I went for my vintage Coach bag, my black loafers, and simple gold jewelry. I love how all of these pieces really allow the vest to stand out.

One issue I am having with vests? Wrinkles! It’s such a challenge to try and keep them crease-free, as I’m sure you can tell in these photos. I don’t get too caught up on them, since a lot of times it just gives the piece a more relaxed vibe, but if any of you have any tips on keeping outerwear neat throughout a work day, I’m all ears.

My friend Brynna and I went on a little adventure to our local historic district while running some errands the other day, and she tried her hand at taking outfit photos for me! It was tough to keep from laughing obnoxiously the whole time, but we made it through! The historic district is so beautiful, and I love driving by all of the old mansions.

  1. Love this outfit Lauren! I love how something as simple as a vest can make an outfit just that little bit more special! 🙂
Creases are always a bit of a problem for me too! I have a few shirts that I feel crease as soon as I put them on! So if you do come across any tips for that I’d definitely love to hear them too! hehe 🙂 xx

  2. Love this outfit! Because of you, I’m now on the lookout for a long vest! They look so chic and effortless!
And I have a skirt that looks like it’s made out of a similar material…I have to iron it every time I wear it! And it still creases. XP I have no idea how to keep it from wrinkling so badly…

  3. Lovely photos! The wrinkles issue is pretty common especially with larger items but it just comes down to material and maintenance really!

  4. Browsing through your blog at the end of a long day is always one of my favorite things to do! I’m always so inspired by your aesthetic and content no matter what it’s about although I will say I’m probably partial to anything Rifle Paper Co. related – and of course anything that you create! I’m still in awe of the gorgeous socks you made!
