That time I made a sweater

Hi friends! Long time no write! I’ve missed my blog like crazy over the past couple of weeks, but needed to keep my focus on finals. Now however, the semester is over, and I am free to blog my heart out.

If you’ve been here for a while, you might remember that last year I started knitting a vintage inspired Christmas sweater. I started it on a whim, and didn’t have a good idea of just how big a project I was taking on. I had never done colorwork (knitting a pattern in multiple colors) and had never made anything on the scale of a garment. I worked on the sweater on and off over the last year, and am now happy to announce that I have officially finished it!  christmas sweaterSee?!

I’m really happy with how it came out! I used this pattern from Debbie Bliss, but made up my own sleeve pattern. The yarn I used is called Capretta by Knit Picks. It is the softest blend of merino, nylon, and cashmere. detail

In other news, I’m absolutely loving being back home for Christmas. I saved all of my shopping until after finals, so my sister and I have been dashing around town buying a great quantity of gifts. In my book it doesn’t feel like the Christmas season until I’ve been shopping in an extremely crowded mall. #thelittlethings

My Christmas records have been on the turntable over and over, and hot chocolate has been made several times. I’m even making a gingerbread house.

I hope your Christmas season is full of the things, people, and food you love.

5 more days- can you believe it?!
