Hi friends, and happy Wednesday! We’ve had some unseasonably warm weather around here, and I’ve been creating outfits that are comfortable for the 50+ temperatures we’ve been enjoying. I remember when I first moved to Little Rock from Southern California, I was excited to get to experience the seasons, but I wasn’t quite prepared to experience seasonal change on a weekly basis, but that’s the south for ya. When it comes to dressing in a climate that changes a lot, I like to go for light layers, and have a cozy scarf handy just in case, but to tell you the truth, this look is one I would wear all year long.
Denim, neutrals, and stripes– please and thank you.
In keeping with my winter style experiment, I picked more minimal and neutral pieces, but a variety of textures and some pattern for interest. I love the way my denim jacket looks with a fresh striped tee. This striped tee from Everlane is a heavier weight making it a great layering piece for a mild winter. For the bottom half, I went for my black trousers. I wear these so often, and love them for how comfortable they are. Plus they are something a little different than jeans. For shoes I chose my black suede lace-up flats. The suede texture gives them a winter appropriate feel even in warmer weather. I finished off the look with a black crossbody and dainty gold necklace.
For my hair, I experimented with a slightly Brigitte Bardot inspired ponytail. I wear my hair up 75% of the time, so I’m trying to come up with some more interesting ponytail styles. This video really inspired me to experiment, and I love the style I came up with! I added a swipe of bright lipstick and called it a day.
Trousers: Ruche, old; similar, fair trade

What’s winter like where you live? Is it consistently cold, or does it change all the time? How to you like to dress for your winter? I’d love to hear!
